I'm Janet Aderinsola Laoye, an occupational therapist heading to the University of Essex for an MSc in Psychology, on my way into neuroscience and AI mental health care for Africa.
My story
I trained as an occupational therapist at Obafemi Awolowo University. Working with people living with serious mental health conditions showed me how few tools our system has to truly reach them.
I want to build mental health care that actually understands the people it serves.
That is why I'm going to Essex. The University offered me an unconditional place on its MSc Psychology, my foundation for cognitive neuroscience. Teaching begins on 6 October 2026.
